Cooperstown

On his first year of eligibility, Mark McGwire finished far down the list for the baseball's Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.

Why did he not make it?

Don't know for sure, but when the ball and the player are both juiced - methinks that has something to do with it.

Memo to Mr Bonds: Don't waste any money on a psychic - you already know your future with regards to the HOF.

You know, all this has given me a far greater appreciation for Babe Ruth. He did it with beer, hookers and hot dogs.

My hero.

Cal Ripken, too ..

Well, without the hotdogs and hookers. Cal Ripken was one of the few baseball superstars who, IMHO, was a true role model. In his many years in the game, I can't recall a single scandal that involved him, can't recall any examples of unsportsmanlike conduct, is still married to his first wife after 10 years, and just seems like an all-around decent guy.

Contrast Cal Ripken to the likes of Jose Canseco, John Rocker or George "Purple butt" Bell ...
