The more people I meet in my travels, the more I realize what true character is.
People come in all shapes and sizes, temperments and personalities, short and long fuses. Some are loud and "in your face", while others are quieter and choose to live in harmony. We have all met those who have attitudes & agendas. And we have all met those who "go with the flow" and take on life as they see it. I'm a big fan of those who live their lives with class, dignity and respect, especially when surrounded by individuals who seem to lash out at anyone who has wronged them. The people who don't lash out, who have been taught that if you can't say anything nice about someone, then say nothing. This, to me, is true character. In today's world, this is truely a lost art. Today, if you don't stand up for yourself, you are seen as 'weak'. I disagree. I can't disagree more. There is such a thing called inner strength, an internal compass if you will, where you don't have to prove to anyone or to society that you are strong and can stand up for yourself. Where you choose to help people around you, not hurt or backstab them when they are out of sight.
My god, if today's world need anything, it is more kindness & respect for others, and healthier internal compasses.
The world needs a lot more quiet dignity.
