Fine - no revolution here

Ok, I now know the truth about this jaywalking controversy. One of my students enlightened me. The reason why many Estonians don't jaywalk, is simple. It's illegal. Some get caught and have to pay a hefty fine. Amazing the differences in culture between here and Taiwan. In Taiwan, you'll never get a ticket for running a red, driving on the sidewalk, excessive speeding, etc.. Here - one foot off the curb - BOOM! A ticket. Luv it.

Just finished a full week of classes and most of my students are warming up to me. Yes, the Estonians are quieter and need a little fire under them to get going, but once they do, it is a truely pleasure to be their teacher. They appreciate the learning process and are serious about improving their English.

Today's Saturday and I've decided to start doing some of the things on my Tallinn To-Do list. First off, there is a horse racing track here and they only race on Saturday afternoons. So I will head over and see how it works here. Second, there are tons of museums here and I will start to explore them - starting with the Occupation musuem (dedicated to the Soviet Occupation of Estonia).

I think you should leave a legacy and get the law (or fines) changed before you go.
