1st Post

Hi,

I logged onto my PC to do some ebay and through the magic of surfing, I have created a blog. Cool! I like it when life presents a surprise. I feel soooo trendy.

My name is Martin and I have no idea why I am writing or even if these entries will end up being, even mildly entertaining to read. One thing I do know, is that I am in a constant search of where I fit in, in this world. It's funny, I sound like the typical 20-something year old - well, guess again, I'm actually 44. I have "found myself" at various times in my past but, you change and become someone else (maybe a better way to say is that life changes you), and then you have to find your new 'you' all over again. It's just another example that, if there is a god, he/she/it has a wicked sense of humour. I like it!!! Because it makes life unpredictable.

In the upcoming entries, I will explore areas that I find interesting like god, the paranormal, new age spirituality, people and their mindset, my life, teaching ESL in different cultures, and whatever is on my mind that day.

Predictions for the upcoming week:

SB: New England 35 Philadelphia 24

NHL lockout: They will find a solution within the next week. I know, I know - ALL the reporters, experts and fans are saying it's over at this late date - but I say, quite cynically - do not underestimate the power of greed of both the owners and players. They will come to an agreement soon not to save this season but to save next season. If they don't come to an agreement in the next few days, they will not talk seriously again until next December/January. That's alot of money lost for everyone. Also, while I'm in a roll - it will be the players that will give in (i.e. a CAP will be in play).

On the subject of the NHL lockout:

I am a fierce and loyal Leaf fan. Hockey Night in Canada Saturday nights have been a tradition practically my whole life. This recent lockout has however poisoned my opinion of both sides in this dispute. The very idea of canceling the season is outrageous and yet we are on the verge of that reality. Grown men playing a game should be grateful that they can do this for a living, making good money. The greed and pride exhibited by both sides are an affront to all people making an honest living. I have no sympathy for either party. I do feel for those whose livelihoods depend on the game event.

If and/or when this dispute is eventually settled, I doubt that I shall venture to a game. These people disgust me. I say to them, "Welcome to the real world, get a real job, and find out how good you had it before!"
