The moment I was waiting for, did indeed hit me on Thursday. I think it was a few minutes after 2pm. I was sitting in the back of the classroom, my preferred location, and the prof (who btw, is a dead ringer for Richard Mulligan from the TV show 'Soap' and ironically the 80s movie Teachers) was explaining the differences between Copy Editing and Technical Editing. It was at that moment, I smiled.
I'm in school ... Actually sitting in a classroom .... Learning ... Absorbing ... Feeling enlightened even ... Feeling confident. Jesus, It has been a long time since I've felt this way.
The slate has been wiped clean ... And the storms that have been brewing in my insides for most of the year, hell over the last 3 years, have finally subsided. There is calm. Oh that wonderful, beautiful calm.... There's nothing like it.
And something else too... Excitement. The last time I was excited was... uhm... Ahh... Can't remember. It's been awhile.
Now if you'll pardon me, I have homework...
